This week’s answer to What is Sexy? requires an explanation below because I was quite torn about posting it.

On the one hand there is an artist I enjoyed since the 80s. On the other hand, she has become very mainstream and in my opinion seemed to have lost a lot of what made her amazingly talented. Though admittedly Madonna was never really that far from the mainstream. I guess I used to like to think she was. And maybe she used to like to think so too.

Then there’s the younger artist in this equation. I know, I know, this is part of that pop culture that I really just can’t tear myself away from sometimes, though I usually try really hard to do so. The problem is that keeping up with that nonsense can be great because it allows me to communicate with a lot of random people I meet at parties. Then again most times it does just kills brain cells doesn’t it? And why am I bothering to give any of this more attention? Well, sometimes it’s hard to believe what you do find to be sexy.

Now look, I’ve never been a fan of Britney, though I must say there were times when she looked very attractive to me. Come on, whether you like her or not you might just have to agree she has or had, or will have again a nice body. Even if she’s not “perfectly thin” (the only way the media can accept), she’s got a better body than most. I also felt bad for her during that whole VMAs dance routine back in September of ’07. I mean, come on, her movements were plain lazy, but at least she tried right? I mean I wouldn’t go so far as to cry on you tube, “Leave Britney alone!” but I did dare to wish America had better things to do than waste their time on all that.

Nonetheless, I do remember when I respected Madonna’s work very much. Britney, well, maybe she’s just so misquided she deserves this one moment. I can’t deny that I very much enjoyed the sight of this kiss.
